Gerald M Baur Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Gerald M. Baur Memorial Scholarship was set up for students in need. This scholarship was set up in memory of Jerry who loved his alma mater. He graduated in 1966 from CoI, went on to medical school at Tulane University and then completed his residency and fellowship in Peripheral Vascular Surgery at Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon. He was asked to stay on as Associate Professor in Vascular Surgery. He worked at OHSU for 6 years as Associate Professor in Vascular Surgery. He was loved by the interns and residents that he helped train. In 1984 he moved back to Idaho where he joined Cardiovascular and Chest Surgical Associates. After moving back to Idaho he became involved with the CoI. He was on the Alumni Association, the Board of Trustees and eventually was elected as Chairman of the Board. Jerry loved The College of Idaho and always said it was the foundational education he received at the college that shaped who he became. Jerry died of Pancreatic cancer October 3, 2008.
