Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, was founded November 17, 1911 at Howard University in Washington, DC and the Beta Mu Chapter was established and chartered at the College of Charleston August 11, 1981. The Beta Mu Chapter supports many initiatives throughout the Charleston community including the Charles R. Drew Blood Drive and the local Charleston Area Habitat For Humanity. Members regularly volunteer with Assault on Illiteracy at Memminger, North Charleston and Mitchell Elementary schools, the One 80 Place, and Adopt-A-Highway.
