Bill Foti and George Martin Legacy Gift

About

For decades, legendary co-athletic directors and coaches Bill Foti and George Martin shaped lives, mentored generations of Chargers, and built the foundation of Colby-Sawyer Athletics — combining for over 1,137 career victories!

As we prepare to induct them into the Athletic Hall of Fame this Homecoming, you can join us in honoring their incredible legacy through the Foti Martin Legacy Gift. A group of Current Trustees will match your gift dollar for dollar, up to $212,500.

Your gift today powers two historic milestones:

  • The Foti Martin Athletic Endowment: Creates the first-ever endowed fund in Colby-Sawyer Athletics history, ensuring permanent annual support for our student-athletes.
  • The Foti Martin Basketball Court: Names the court inside the Hogan Sports Center in their honor.

Join us in making history and honoring two true Colby-Sawyer legends!

Lessons Off the Court: Alumni Pay Tribute

“I am a better husband, father, friend and professional because of [Foti’s] guidance over the past 20 years. He consistently challenged me to become the best version of myself, both on and off the floor, and that has made all the difference in my life.” – Shannon Sciria ’09

“For four years, I had the privilege of playing for Coach George Martin in both volleyball and basketball. He demanded excellence, but he cared even more about the people behind the athletes. He taught us discipline, accountability and confidence — lessons that have stayed with me throughout my career. His influence extends far beyond the wins and losses; it's reflected in the lives of the countless student-athletes he mentored. Naming the court and creating this endowment is a fitting tribute to a coach whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of Chargers.” – Sara Hammond ’01, attorney, vice president of human resources at Olympia Hospitality and member of Colby-Sawyer's Board of Trustees.
