About

Oregon Coast Community College serves residents across Lincoln County’s 1,200 square miles. The college offers credit and non-credit courses at its centers in Newport, Lincoln City, Toledo, and Waldport, as well as at various other locations throughout the county. Here, students can complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree, earn an associate degree, take courses to accelerate their career development, prepare to start a small business, earn a GED, learn English as a Second Language (ESL), or take courses for personal enrichment.

The college is expanding trades education opportunities on the coast, with the upcoming construction of a $20 million facility at its Central County Campus in Newport, a project overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2024. The college offers degrees in marine welding at its welding facilities in Toledo and Lincoln City. Its Aquarium Science Program is unique on the West Coast and one of only a handful of programs like it in the country. Each year, the program attracts students from across the nation, many of whom have already earned a four-year degree in the sciences but seek to accelerate their path to a rewarding career in zoos and aquariums. Oregon Coast’s Nursing and Allied Health program has nearly doubled in capacity since 2022, recently adding an LPN-to-RN program to supplement its EMT, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, and two-year Nursing programs. The program is also developing a new four-year BSN program, expected to launch in Fall 2026, pending approval by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

Lincoln County’s economy is dominated by service and hospitality industries and challenged by rising housing costs. Many OCCC students are financially stressed, including single parents working multiple jobs while investing in their education in pursuit of a brighter future. The OCCC Foundation works tirelessly to raise funds to support these students, providing approximately $100,000 in scholarships annually, along with thousands more in assistance for basic needs such as gas cards, groceries, and other essential supports.
