Investing in the Future of Care: A Vision for the Clackamas Community College Nursing Simulation Lab

Oregon is facing a persistent and growing demand for highly skilled healthcare professionals. At Clackamas Community College (CCC), we are committed to meeting this challenge by cultivating an equitable, innovative, and responsive education that empowers our students to become the healthcare leaders of tomorrow. Our Health Sciences Department serves as a vital pipeline for the regional workforce, maintaining over 30 employer partnerships and facilitating 22,496 hours of clinical experience annually across all seven programs.

We believe that a student’s journey toward excellence should be defined by their potential, not by systemic barriers. To that end, we have pioneered a holistic and equitable admissions process, eliminating application fees and implementing de-identified essay reviews to ensure a diverse and representative student body. Once admitted, our students enter a "student-ready" environment where licensure preparation is integrated into the curriculum and financial burdens are reduced by embedding credentialing fees directly into course costs.

To prepare students for the high-stakes environment of modern healthcare, CCC utilizes high-fidelity simulation technology. This allows students to practice critical skills on adult, adolescent, and newborn manikins in a safe, reflective environment. We are proud to lead the way in culturally responsive training by utilizing diverse manikin “skins,” ensuring our graduates are prepared to provide compassionate care to all members of our community.
