Gifts to Linda Vogt Journalism Internship contribute to...
Support student journalists and local media!
2026 was the second year that Clackamas Community College sent a student journalist to intern at The Oregonian.
These paid internships are only made possible through donations to the Linda Vogt Journalism Internship Fund. That means a donation to this fund goes directly to a student to work in local media.
An internship is key for students who want a job in journalism. Unfortunately, many journalism internships are unpaid. Furthermore, it’s difficult for our two-year students to compete with four-year students coming out of big-name university programs.
CCC’s journalism internship program gives our students a stipend to intern at a media company. This summer, student Jacob Graves earned $20 an hour working part-time at The Oregonian, covering everything from Oregon wine to a mother’s memories of a Sandy teenager killed in a shooting.
In a first this year, our intern worked with an Oregonian reporter in Clackamas County to bolster coverage of the county and Oregon City.
Your donation goes directly to a student who will earn at least minimum wage to intern in journalism. The scholarship is named for Linda Vogt, the journalism instructor at Clackamas Community College from 1987 – 2007.
In 2025, our fourth intern, Quinton Prudhomme, joined The Oregonian’s breaking news team. Quinton covered stories ranging from Coast Guard rescues on the Oregon coast to pelicans wandering into cafés. He took photos, collaborated with staff writers, and built the skills and confidence that only come from working in a professional newsroom.
This paid internship makes it possible for student journalists to focus on building their skills, networking, and developing their careers in media.
Your gift to the Linda Vogt Journalism Internship Fund ensures that students can continue to tell Oregon’s stories and bring community college student voices to the field of journalism.
