Gifts to ESOL Department FFX contribute to...
Language is more than words. It opens doors to education, work, and community.
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program offers classes that help students read, write, and speak English so they can achieve their educational, work, and personal goals. The program prepares students for college-level coursework, new job opportunities, and fuller participation in the community.
In 2024–25, the program served over 700 students representing more than 20 native languages. These students bring a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and goals. Many are parents striving to help their children with homework, newcomers eager to enter the workforce, or lifelong learners determined to pursue new opportunities. Every student is focused on gaining the skills they need to thrive.
Your gift will support ESOL students by helping with class fees of $30 to $60, providing textbooks, and assisting with essential needs such as utilities, gas, and groceries. This support helps students stay focused on learning while opening doors to new opportunities and stronger connections in their communities.
Quotes from ESOL students:
“As a person who first came to this country, learning English was the most necessary thing to do. The program gave me the proper environment to grow and gain more confidence over time. And the best feeling I got when I was in ESOL was not just understanding English (which was also incredible for me), but the confidence to express my own thoughts.”
“My experience at CCC helped me in many areas of my life. In education, it gave me the skills and confidence to take college classes and continue learning. It improved my communication at work so I can understand instructions and talk with coworkers more effectively. In the community, I feel more comfortable speaking English in daily situations. When I was able to talk with other people, I made more friends here and started to feel like I was truly part of this country. Overall, CCC gave me the foundation to be more independent and successful in everything I do.”
