About

Literature from around the world: made possible by students at CCC!

Clackamas Literary Review (CLR) is an award-winning literary arts magazine that has been publishing innovative texts and richly diverse voices since 1997. CLR is made possible each year by students learning the craft of publishing by becoming publishers themselves - bringing new literature from best-selling authors, award-winning writers, poet laureates, and emerging creatives around the globe to readers everywhere.

Students enrolled in the English department’s book publishing courses work collaboratively as CLR assistant editors to learn and develop highly-transferrable and sought-after skills in professional writing and editing, graphic design, event planning, marketing and promotion, and project management. These skills continue to serve them in their future academic and career pursuits. To date, dozens of our former editors have gone on to see their work published by presses around the country, start their own literary publications, earn advanced degrees in English and Creative Writing, and become teachers, including right here at Clackamas Community College.

Your contribution provides direct support to our student-made publication by helping to fund annual operating costs for CLR’s manuscript submission platform, website, catalog listings, printing and distribution, as well as the industry-standard tools students use to create original collections of poetry and prose. Your support helps make it possible for writing created by students right here at CCC to reach and inspire readers and writers around the world.

As one student shared with her fellow editors: “I can’t believe I get to do this work, at this place, with these people.”

The opportunity CLR provides students, readers, and writers should make the CCC community proud.
