Gifts to Music Composing in Community contribute to...
Hello!
We are the student music composers of CWU, and we’re passionate about creating, performing, and sharing new music. This project supports the Music Composition Club’s mission to inspire, educate, and build community through the arts. With your support, we can bring guest artists to CWU—composers, performers, and educators who will present, teach, and collaborate with us in events open to the entire community.
Your contribution also helps us represent our department and school at festivals and conferences nationwide and internationally, forging meaningful connections across disciplines and amplifying CWU’s presence in the global music community. Our members have been accepted to festivals across the U.S. and abroad, and we’ve welcomed composers and writers from across the country for short residencies at CWU—performing their works, leading masterclasses, guiding orchestra rehearsals, attending premieres of their compositions, and sharing their stories to inspire the next generation of musicians.
The photo here captures one of these transformative moments: student composers, performers, and faculty members posing with our most recent guest artist immediately after a recital—evidence of the creativity, mentorship, and collaboration your support makes possible.
Every October, we host the New Music Festival, a three-day celebration of contemporary composition. The festival includes five free concerts, a masterclass, and a presentation with Q&A by a featured composer—all open to the community. Your generosity ensures we can continue offering these experiences more frequently, reaching more students, audiences, and aspiring artists, and creating a rich, diverse environment for learning and inspiration.
You can find us at the music building during this campaign, performing our own compositions and arrangements in a mixed-instrument ensemble. Stop by, hear our work, and see firsthand the difference your support makes. Together, we can sustain and grow a vibrant culture of music, creativity, and connection at CWU.
