Great Lakes Energy Institute (GLEI)
Climate change is the greatest single challenge facing humanity today. The world desperately needs clean-energy and energy efficiency solutions in all aspects of industry and society if we are to overcome this challenge. The Great Lakes Energy Institute (GLEI) at Case Western Reserve University catalyzes breakthroughs in energy sustainability that address these most pressing problems facing our world by empowering our students, faculty and partners.
GLEI has been essential in helping secure energy-related research funding to Case Western Reserve—and the return on investment has been outstanding, with an average of 10 research dollars won for every dollar spent at the institute. As a result, CWRU offers a future-stretching energy research education portfolio offered through researchers who are world-renowned leaders in their fields.
In addition to research, GLEI educates the next generation of engineers, scientists, and leaders to better manage existing and emerging energy resources through the ThinkEnergy Fellows program. This unique, co-curricular program introduces students to energy professionals and career opportunities, and encourages them to tackle energy challenges themselves through prototyping and pitch competitions.
To that end, GLEI is seeking to raise $5,000 by Feb. 28 in support of the ThinkEnergy Fellows program.
Positioned at the heart of a major industrial metropolitan area, within a world-class university, GLEI is committed to educating and developing tomorrow’s energy talent. The ThinkEnergy Fellows program plays a vital role in helping GLEI fulfill that mission.
