The School of Medicine’s mission is to improve global health by linking research to populations in a superb educational environment. Case Western Reserve School of Medicine is the intellectual glue for health education and research faculty across Cleveland's academic medical centers—Cleveland Clinic, Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, MetroHealth System and University Hospitals—coordinating a network of transdisciplinary efforts that touches a myriad of diseases and empowers diversity and inclusive excellence.
Guided by these principles, inspired by the reputation for excellence and innovation in medical education and research our school has earned since its founding in 1843, and informed by the renowned expertise of our faculty and staff, we are eager to build upon Dean Gerson’s progress in his tenure to advance the research, translation and educational enterprises at the School of Medicine.
Case Comprehensive Cancer Center Innovation Fund
The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC), the remarkable powerhouse consortium of Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic, represents all cancer research and most of the cancer care in Northeast Ohio.
Catalytic Fund
The School of Medicine Annual Fund Flexible fund managed within the Dean's Office and addresses critical needs each fiscal year. Some examples include: student scholarships, a piece of equipment vital to completing an important research project, matching funds for a grant to support our research or community activities, or other priorities.
Exercise and Nutrition Research Group
The Exercise and Nutrition Research Group (ENRG) at CWRU is an applied sports nutrition- and performance-focused research program led by Department of Nutrition faculty Dr. Kristyen Tomcik and registered dietitians Prof. Lindsay Malone and Prof. Katie Nabors, alongside a team of dedicated and driven medical, graduate, and undergraduate student researchers. Founded in 2024 in collaboration with CWRU Nutrition alum Dr. Jacob Mey (Assistant Professor at Pennington Biomedical Research Center - an affiliate of Louisiana State University), ENRG supports athlete health and performance through evidence-based nutrition education and exercise physiology testing. Working closely with the CWRU Athletics Department, the group has partnered with a majority of the varsity teams and nearly 300 student-athletes to study fueling, metabolism, and recovery while giving students hands-on clinical and research experience.
First Year PhD Scholarship Fund
Support for First Year Scholarship is essential to the sustained success and growth of our PhD program. With goals to increase the number of PhD students who enter our program, enhance the depth of their training experience, and broaden the diversity of our student body, the School of Medicine launched a dedicated PhD scholarship fundraising campaign.
Jason Madachy Foundation & CWRU of Medicine Alumni and Friends Stethoscope Award
The Jason Madachy Foundation is offering a 10% match this year to provide stethoscopes for incoming medical students.
Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) Student Assistance Fund
This fund creates a pathway to success for our students, supporting their academic, financial, and mental well-being. The Fund provides merit-based awards, emergency financial support, and health and wellness initiatives that all serve to help our students thrive and succeed during their intensive two-year training program.
Medical Student Emergency Fund
This funds helps medical students with unforeseen and urgent circumstances.
Medical Student Level-up Fund
This fund helps medical students access educational resources not covered by financial aid.
PA Program Fund
Case Western Reserve University's Physician Assistant program educates students in 27 months for a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Our program focuses on teaching the importance of caring for and serving the greater community. Please consider a gift to the program, which will directly help our students when unexpected and urgent needs arise, or for educational resources that are not covered by financial aid.
