Community Project Fund at Sears think[box]
The Larry Sears and Sally Zlotnick Sears think[box] is a world‐class university innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem housed in an iconic seven-story, 50,000-square-foot facility at Case Western Reserve University. It includes a makerspace for prototyping and fabrication as well as a full spectrum of resources for visionaries of all backgrounds. This space is free and open to the public to encourage students, faculty, alumni, and members of the community to tinker and creatively invent in their coursework, research, entrepreneurial pursuits, and personal projects.
Sears think[box] seeks to expand community access to this unparalleled collection of creative and entrepreneurial tools and staff support through the Community Project Fund—providing resources for materials, equipment, manufacturing costs and other related expenses to community projects selected by a review committee.
The Community Project Fund Review Committee will evaluate each proposal to ensure funds are allocated to projects that have SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound), are technically feasible, meet funding expectations, and exhibit innovation, functionality, and creativity. To that end, Sears think[box] is seeking $8,000 in support of this fund.
Sears think[box] illuminates the pathway for aspiring entrepreneurs, community leaders and university researchers to create real-world impact. Through a unique partnership between multiple schools and university offices, Sears think[box] focuses the efforts of Case Western Reserve University—an R1 research institution—into a complete menu of services and facilities to support the community and guide the creation and commercialization of intellectual property.
