Please consider a gift to CMU Global Medical Brigades (GMB) this Giving CMU Day!
CMU Global Medical Brigades (GMB) is part of the international organization Global Brigades- dedicated to providing sustainable healthcare to underserved communities through mobile clinics. These clinics are staffed with student volunteers, healthcare workers and community leaders delivering essential medical services. Students from Carnegie Mellon University go to these communities every spring break. This year will be CMU GMB’s 17th brigade, where we will focus on providing basic physical and mental health care to a community in Panama that lacks regular access to medical services.
Our organization trains students to respectfully engage with patients, take vitals and assist in patient care. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to shadow local physicians, help organize a pharmacy and lead educational sessions for community members. These experiences will allow us to build meaningful connections with the communities, delivering effective and culturally sensitive care.
All supplies for our brigade trips are raised through fundraising efforts, including those on Giving CMU Day. Donations support our volunteer donation goals, which cover the cost of medical supplies and the hiring of local medical professionals essential for the trip’s success. Any additional funds are used to help offset the travel costs for participating members, making our mission more accessible.
Membership in this student organization and participation in its programs/activities are available to all students at the University, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or any other protected class.
