The Language Technologies Institute was founded by Jaime Carbonell, who envisioned a world where people could freely communicate with each other, no matter what language they spoke. He knew that making this dream a reality would require automation, so he spent his career building systems that could understand human language. In the process, he profoundly influenced the lives of countless students, colleagues and associates.
To remember Jaime, SCS established the Jaime Carbonell Endowed Faculty Support Fund. This Giving CMU Day, when you contribute to this fund, you invest in the faculty who follow in Jaime’s footsteps.
