Campbell University's Human Exploration Rover Team competes in NASA's prestigious Human Exploration Rover Challenge. In this challenge, students design, fabricate, test, and operate rovers of two different scales. The nine-time international award-winning and defending international champion Human Exploration Rover Team (HERT) designs and builds large rovers driven by human pilots. The Human Exploration Remote Operations (HERO) team competes in the remote-control division and won 2nd place overall in their inaugural season last year. The HERT and HERO teams compete internationally
against dozens of other collegiate teams.

For the 2026 competition, the HERT and HERO engineers are eager to build on past success. The previous championship and podium finishes have energized and expanded the teams, who have been hard at work on this year's rovers, along with new science challenges NASA has added to the competition.

Gifts to this fund directly support these teamsβ competitive and educational efforts, allowing better rovers to be produced and more team members to travel to the competition in Huntsville, Alabama. With the size of these teams, we must have a bus to get everyone there this year! Please consider supporting HERT and HERO as they represent CU in NASAβs international Human Exploration Rover Challenge! We thank everyone who supported us last year! We literally could not do it without you, and the competitive impact of the team is matched by its educational impact on students.
Thank you for your generosity and for considering us!
