The Institute for Child Development and Family Relations (ICDFR) at CSUSB is committed to empowering student-parents, parents, and children through innovative programs designed to enhance success and strengthen family dynamics. Our initiatives focus on providing essential services like free parent education classes, on-campus child care for low-income students, site assessments to improve quality early childhood care, tutoring for homeless youth, cognitive training during school hours, and targeted interventions for families and institutionalized parents. These efforts foster student achievement and promote healthier, more resilient families.
Student-Parent Resource Center (SPRC)
The Student-Parent Resource Center (SPRC), a new initiative of ICDFR, offers a variety of vital services to CSUSB student-parents, including:
- Parenting webinars
- Children's book and clothing exchanges
- Free diapers for student-parents living in San Bernardino County
- Parenting classes
- Informal child developmental screenings
- Family-friendly study room
- Support groups
These resources are designed to reduce financial strain and provide a strong, supportive community for student-parents as they pursue their educational goals.
Supporting ICDFR’s Mission
ICDFR’s mission thrives through the generous financial support of donors. Continued funding allows us to collect essential data and implement evidence-based strategies that improve the financial, academic, and emotional well-being of students and families.
Together, we can create lasting, positive impacts for future generations and build stronger, more successful communities.
