The purpose of this project is to offer annual grants to students completing their research internships through the CCJR, as well as to faculty applying for external grants involving student researchers. These two activities are traditionally not funded, although they represent an important time investment. Funding research internships promotes equity and makes this invaluable experience accessible for students who may not have the ability to work in unfunded activities. Funding faculty efforts to apply for grants where student researchers are included, regardless of whether they ultimately are awarded the grant, rewards faculty time and efforts and promotes the involvement of students in funded research activities. This also increases availability of research opportunities to those students in need of funding.
