Gifts to TRIO Works contribute to...
The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs are federally funded grants to support first generation, low-income students and students with disabilities in achieving their college goals. TRIO grew out of the Civil Rights Movement and has been serving students since the 1960’s.. TRIO SSS has been at CSUMB since 2001, and today we serve around 300 eligible students every year in our two programs, SSS and SSS STEM-Health Sciences. Our mission is to support and empower participants in their academic, personal, and professional growth by offering holistic services around academic support, mentoring, career and graduate school exploration, financial literacy, social enrichment, and more.
In the most recent cohort, 88% of SSS students and 79% of SSS STEM-HS students graduated within 6 years (and our 6-year graduation rates haven’t dropped below 70% since the 2008-09 cohort)! And these numbers can’t begin to capture the incredible achievements of our students in campus and community leadership, undergraduate research, study abroad, and more.
As federally funded programs, we have strict regulations on how we can utilize our funds. With your donation, you can support our students in areas of additional need, and recognize the achievements and potential of our first generation, low-income students and students with disabilities!

94 days ago by Susan ManganWe know that TRIO Works - but let our students tell you what the program has meant to them!
“As a TRIO student, I felt seen, valued, and supported every step of the way. The program not only helped me navigate the complexities of higher education but also instilled in me a sense of belonging and confidence. The unwavering support from TRIO advisors and staff reminded me that I was not alone in my journey... The TRIO legacy means carrying forward the values of perseverance and success despite adversity. It signifies being part of a larger family of students who have defied the odds and created opportunities for themselves.” - Asmahan, Biology, Class of '25
“I am more resilient, empowered, aware, confident and passionate about my abilities, identities and potential thanks to TRIO. TRIO’s guidance and support … provided me as a first-generation, low-income, minority student an environment to explore my needs, inquiries and opportunities. TRIO heard me, saw me and believed in me when I couldn’t.” - Berenice, Social & Behavioral Science, Class of ‘22
