CSUMB Library Study Room for Families

The Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library at CSUMB is committed to supporting diversity, inclusive excellence, equity, and social justice within the communities we serve. The library strives to: 

● Enhance the experience of the CSUMB community by maintaining inclusive, safe, and welcoming library spaces, and by providing resources, services, programs, events, and exhibits that support diversity, inclusive excellence, equity, social justice, and a sense of belonging. 
● Maintain strong relationships with diverse CSUMB communities including cultural and identity groups, first-generation, low-income, international students, and programs that support them. 

Our first initiative was to create a lactation room in the library, which has been an overwhelming success. Launched in August 2019, the lactation room was utilized 128 times over only a semester and a half (pre-pandemic).

A family friendly study room, which will be the only one on the CSUMB campus,  would align with our values to maintain an inclusive and welcoming space for our students who carry many responsibilities, which for some could include caring for their own children, younger siblings, and other family members. 

Some examples of what we need are: 

● kid-friendly floor mats
● shelving 
● kids tables and chairs
● decorations
● supplies
● educational materials
● educational equipment 
● kids toys
