"Those who have relied on an oar for the Orange & Blue can confirm the profound impact this sport has on their lives. Your contribution in supporting our student-athletes guarantees that the current generation of rowers has a transformative experience at Bucknell. Your support during One Herd One Day and throughout the year resonates daily with the team, influencing everything from the gear they wear and the erg they spin to the hull they propel toward the finish line. We express sincere gratitude for every dollar contributed by our alumni, parents and friends." - Head Rowing Coach Steve Kish
"Your support of the Bucknell novice rowing program signifies that young women who have never rowed before college will have the opportunity to participate at the highest level of Division I athletics upon joining the Bison. Through your contributions on One Herd One Day, we can provide the student-athletes on our team with a memorable and unique experience that will contribute to the program's overall success, both on and off the water. Every dollar contributes significantly to improving our equipment, gear and travel opportunities for the program and we are deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Go Bison!" - Head Novice Coach & Recruiting Coordinator, Kelly Harris
The Bison rowing program has undergone some exciting changes in recent years. In 2023, Kelly Harris was named head coach of the Novice rowing program, and several of her young rowers quickly graduated to the varsity team and earned seats in Bucknell’s Patriot League Championship boats. Steve Kish’s team provided one of Bucknell Athletics' highlights of the 2021-22 academic year when the Varsity Eight turned in an electrifying gold-medal performance at the Patriot League Championships. Not only did the V8+ win the title for the first time in 10 years, but its seven-second victory over runner-up Boston University also marked the third-largest winning margin in league history. After five straight top-three finishes in the team standings, the Bison dipped to fifth with a very young squad in 2024. Optimism is high as the 2025 spring campaign really heats up in April and May, culminating with the Patriot League Championships on May 16 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. The rowing team also traditionally performs well academically, and the group combined for a 3.47 GPA in the fall 2024 semester.
