Gifts to Swimming & Diving contribute to...

“College athletics and the sport of swimming and diving continue to evolve, but what doesn't change are the great opportunities for growth and development that being a member of the Bucknell Swimming and Diving team provides to its members. Those opportunities are not possible without your support. Your generosity allows us to offer great experiences to our student-athletes which enable them to learn and grow.” - Head Coach Dan Schinnerer
The Bison men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams put forth strong postseason performances, claiming numerous medals, awards, and school records at the Patriot League and ECAC Championships. It was Bucknell’s turn to host the Patriot League meet, and the Bison women finished a strong third and the men fourth. The two teams combined to set six school records and placed 43 new entries into the program’s all-time top-10 lists. The star of the season was freshman Clara Renner, who won the 400 IM and was second in both the 500 and 1650 freestyles en route to Patriot League Rookie of the Meet honors. Sophomore Sara Ketron had a huge weekend, breaking the 16-year-old school record in the 50 free (the oldest swimming record in the books) while also contributing to two record-setting relays. On the men’s side, seniors Justin DiSanto (100 free) and Will Hedges (200 breast) broke school records on the final day of the meet. One week later, the Bison ventured to Navy for the ECAC Championships, and the women won the meet for the first time, while the men finished fourth. Renner took gold in the 200 free and silver in the 200 IM and 200 fly, and she broke the school record in the latter event. Virginia Hastings won the 200 IM just ahead of Renner, and the Bison also took gold in the 400 free relay. Reggie Frias was named Diver of the Meet after a win in the 3-meter event and a bronze on the 1-meter board. Connor Thurston was the Men’s Diver of the Meet after claiming gold and silver medals. Dan Schinnerer was named Women’s Coach of the Meet. The teams also continue to excel academically with some of the highest team GPAs among all of Bucknell’s varsity sports. Last fall, the Bison women compiled a stellar 3.76 GPA, while the men combined for a 3.46.
