Eighty-three incoming Broward College students will be helped with covering the cost of a course thanks to your generous contributions and match by Helios Education Foundation. 

$16,681 was raised by 85 supporters including Broward College alumni, friends, faculty & staff, and students. 

The match by Helios Education Foundation brought the total scholarship amount for incoming Broward College students to $33,362!

The Challenge ends at midnight tonight - thanks so much to the 79 donors so far who have raised more than $16k towards this match opportunity from Helios Education Foundation.

We’re keeping our campaign open until Wednesday, June 30 to help count your gift for the #StartStrongBC Challenge. This initiative is so important, it’s an opportunity to double your impact and help enroll 250 first-time-in-college students. That is a truly substantive number of people who otherwise may not pursue higher education.

With your help – the future is looking bright for 250 first-time-in-college students to start on their educational journey through the #StartStrongBC Challenge by covering the cost of a course at Broward College. 

According to Florida TaxWatch, for every $1 that a Broward College graduate spends on their education, they can expect to earn $6.63 in additional personal income (in present money value) over a working career. The lower the tuition and cost of education for students, the lower the barrier to entry to start taking courses,  and the more they than can make and retain after graduation with lower student debt.

The #StartStrongBC Challenge will help 250 incoming students have the cost of a course covered in the 2021-2022 academic year. 

Every dollar makes a difference in covering the cost of courses for incoming students. Imagine – For just $200, 10 people giving $20 each, provides a match for the cost of a full course at Broward College! With Broward College, your funding goes further.

Any amount makes a strong difference in the ability to award student scholarships. With the average cost of attendance totaling $28,000 when factoring in all living expenses, helping students cover tuition and fees (averaging $2,800 per year at Broward College), makes a major impact on lessening the financial burden of their studies. 

The path to empowerment begins with education, and thanks to the Helios Education Foundation, every gift made to the Broward College Fund this week will be matched up to $50,000! By raising $100,000, we will be able to enroll 250 first-time-in-college students by covering the cost of their first class.

These are students who have already applied, but often for financial reasons are not able to enroll. Help uplift our community now by making a contribution.
