In the past five academic years, there have been 4,912 first generation in college students who have benefited from this scholarship support. With 46% of Broward College student being the first in their families to go to college, this make a huge difference in helping students both start their education and achieve their dreams of a degree.
The Florida First Generation Matching Grant Program (FGMG) has a 2:1 match by the Florida State Legislature on gifts from private donors to provide funds to students who demonstrate financial need and are the first in their immediate families to attend college.
Since the inception of this grant program, Broward College has received a total of $2.6M in scholarship funding from the FGMG. Each year, the Broward College Foundation has met the match requirements for the state from individual donors and family foundations thanks to the support of individuals like you.
