Did you know that virtually every undergraduate student at BGSU takes courses in the College of Arts and Sciences?

As the largest College at BGSU, we span the arts, sciences, humanities and social sciences – the College of Arts and Sciences provides undergraduate and graduate students a relevant, 21st-century education by connecting the foundational study of the traditional disciplines with coursework and programs in rapidly evolving fields, like Artificial Intelligence, Digital Art and Photochemical Sciences. A hallmark of an Arts and Sciences education is the application of students’ classroom knowledge to hands-on experienceslike conducting grant-funded research alongside our world-class faculty, writing and producing podcasts for the Democracy and Public Research Network or the public history program, curating exhibitions in an art history capstone course, and studying abroad at our signature sites in Salzburg, Austria and Alcalá, Spain. These kinds of experiences ensure our graduates are career-ready, with up-to-date technological and creative skills that will serve them well as professionals and engaged citizens.

  • College of Arts and Sciences Gap Scholarship – The College of Arts and Sciences prepares students for meaningful careers with paths of study across majors in the fine arts, sciences, humanities, and social sciences. By supporting this scholarship fund, you help students bridge the gap between their financial aid and the total cost of attendance, ensuring they can focus on their studies and futures.
  • College of Arts and Sciences Fund for Experiential Learning and Student Success Hands-on learning transforms a student's education, opening doors to new opportunities and career pathways. This fund provides vital support for students engaging in experiential learning – whether through study abroad programs, internships, co-ops, faculty-led research, or courses with project-based and community-based learning components. Your gift empowers students to become career ready by applying their knowledge and skills beyond the classroom.
  • Democracy and Public Policy Research Network Fund Drawing upon the expertise, talent, and knowledge of our university community, the Democracy and Public Policy Research Network (“DePo”) seeks to provide critical information to help citizens and policymakers understand their environments and make decisions to better serve the public good. Your gift ensures students and faculty can collaborate on writing and producing podcasts, public engagement events, the writing of policy papers, and launching public opinion polls—the four focus areas of the DePo.
  • Excellence in Journalism – The Excellence in Journalism fund supports experiential learning opportunities for students in the field.
  • Medici Circle Patrons of Art Since 1980, The Medici Circle has provided funding for
a wide range of enrichment activities that complement the traditional classroom experience and further elevate the excellence of School of Art faculty and students. Support of the Medici Circle helps our students reach new levels of creativity and scholarship through support for visiting artists and scholars, grants, travel to conferences and workshops, and many other initiatives that would otherwise be inaccessible. Additionally, your gifts also help enable students to travel to and study each summer in Florence, Italy!
