The Boston University Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Center is the world leader in research on post-traumatic neurodegeneration and CTE. The Center leads the field in high-impact, innovative research and ways to prevent, detect and treat CTE. The Center is focused on means of early detection to prevent the long-term devastating effects of CTE on individuals and their families with aging. Funds received support the mission of the CTE center: to conduct cutting-edge research on CTE, including pathogenesis, genetics, risk factors, biomarkers, clinical presentation, neuropathology, detection, and treatments.
Research focused on human disease is expensive. We conduct cutting-edge research using brain bank tissue, comprehensive neuropathological examination and clinical evaluations at no cost to the family. All operations at the BU CTE Center are financed through grants and philanthropic support.
All donations go directly towards BU CTE Center operations, including brain donation acquisition, processing and storage fees, clinical and neuropathological analysis, data acquisition, and data analysis. Support for the BU CTE Center helps to provide life-changing diagnoses to families and will help make our goals of early detection and successful treatment of CTE a reality.
