The BU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center is the world leader in understanding the role of traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a modifiable risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Did you know that up to 50% of dementia is preventable? The BU ADRC is focused on identifying how to lessen those preventable risk factors, including TBI and other post-traumatic neurodegenerations. Support for the BU ADRC has had a transformative impact on our efforts by:
- Advancing clinical and neuropathological characterization of dementing disorders, including preventable dementias, through brain donations
- Acquiring state-of-the-art digital technology and AI, to accelerate early disease detection and identify modifiable factors in its pathogenesis
- Empowering graduate students to collaborate in groundbreaking research
- Nurturing junior faculty and fostering the next generation of scientific leaders
Donations to the BU ADRC will advance clinical care and management, clinical characterization, and neuropathological analysis for those with Alzheimer's Disease or Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. Donations will enable the BU ADRC to determine how brain trauma accelerates Alzheimer's disease and initiates other dementing disorders. Financial support will also accelerate early dementia detection and support clinical trials to discover novel treatments.
Together, we can find innovative treatments and strategies to improve patients’ and caregivers’ quality of life and lessen the impact of Alzheimer's disease on all of our futures.
