The Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, established in 2000, conducts future-oriented, interdisciplinary, and policy-relevant research on globally important issues that will contribute to long-term improvements in the human condition. The Center is especially interested in rigorous analysis relating to longer-range human development. We envision a future where excellent scholarship improves the long-term human condition. In addition to a rigorous program of seminars, conferences, workshops, and other events each year, the Pardee Center is host to a number of signature programs. Our faculty seed grants catalyze research collaborations that would otherwise be difficult to achieve within traditional academic boundaries. Our highly-competitive Graduate Summer Fellows program offers graduate students an opportunity for intensive interdisciplinary research and writing in a collegial atmosphere that fosters peer support and intellectual growth. Our monthly Global Health Politics Workshop (GHPW) series brings together practitioners and leading social scientists from the disciplines of anthropology, political science, and sociology to advance understanding of health phenomena in a globally interconnected world.
