The Economics Department Gift Fund helps support our economics community and the broader research and teaching missions of the university. From distinguished lecture series to student organizations to faculty teaching awards, you can help make a difference at one of the top-ranked economics departments in the country!
Donations support activities and programming for economics students, from undergraduates to PhD candidates. Among the programs supported:
- Undergraduate Economic Association (UEA): The UEA is a student organization that provides opportunities and peer resources for students interested in economics, including social and professional opportunities. These range from talks held with economics professors to economics-themed trivia nights and movie screenings.
- College Fed Challenge Team (FC): The College Fed Challenge is an annual national team competition for undergraduate students interested in macroeconomics and monetary policy. This year, the BU College FC team advanced to the final regional round of the competition, distinguishing itself as one of the top six teams out of 26 to compete with fellow finalists Harvard, Yale, Babson, Northeastern, and Bentley University.
- Women and Nonbinary People in Economics (WEOrg): WEOrg is a student organization dedicated to the advancement of women and non-binary graduate students at all stages of research in economics. In October 2025, WEOrg hosted a successful one-day conference, WERISE 2025, which brought together scholars from around the country to discuss issues of representation in the economics profession, as well as highlight research studying gender-related research in the fields of labor, development, and health.
These organizations enhance the experience of studying economics at BU, facilitate connections between students, and create opportunities to interact with faculty, distinguished visitors, and other members of the economics profession at large.
Economics Department Matching Challenge: Gifts to the CAS Economics Department will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000.
