The CAS Creative Writing Program includes one of the most prestigious Creative Writing MFA programs in the country. In addition to granting graduate degrees, our program runs creative writing courses for undergraduate students at Boston University and brings nationally- and internationally-recognized writers to campus for free, open-to-the-public readings, lectures, and Q&A sessions. Our program highlights the importance of creative writing (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction) in the humanities and in our culture at large, and it provides academic and career opportunities for writers of different ages, backgrounds, and origins.
A gift to the Creative Writing Program will provide:
- Financial support for students requiring additional fellowship aid.
- Programming support for the Bay State Road Reading Series, which brings established poets to campus for readings. Poets who have read at BU include Mary Jo Salter, Nicole Sealey, William Logan, and others.
- Awards for hard-working, talented writers who impress our faculty during their time as students in the program. On behalf of all of our students, thank you in advance for your support.
