The African American & Black Diaspora Studies (AABDS) Program is proud to be at the center of conversations about tolerance, justice, cultural change and diversity. Our goal is to provide students with practical training in such issues alongside the theoretical and practical tools necessary for more advanced study and future engagement in any professional field.
AABDS is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, with world class scholars from History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, English, Art & Art History, Music, Ethnomusicology, Religion, and more. Because of this, there is room for students to pursue a wide range of interests while satisfying the background goals of the program. Beyond the classroom, BU’s AABDS Program has one of the most intriguing and engaging event schedules on campus and is very much a part of student life. Lively interactions between faculty, staff, students, and world-renowned guests make the intellectual life of our unit reach far beyond the campus and into the Boston area itself.
With your support, we can continue to provide our students with access to exceptional faculty, resources, and opportunities that will help them succeed in their academic careers. In addition, your donation will help us fund student scholarships that will enable our students to pursue their academic goals and aspirations without the burden of financial constraints. Your support will provide our students with opportunities that they might not otherwise have had access to, helping them to unlock their full potential and make a positive impact in their communities.
Finally, your contribution will also help us support student-led events that promote a deeper understanding of the African American and Black Diaspora experience. These events will provide our students with opportunities to engage with diverse perspectives, learn from experts in the field, and participate in conversations that contribute to advancing knowledge and creating positive social change.
