Gifts to Bloomsburg University Equestrian Team contribute to...
The Bloomsburg University Equestrian Team (BUET) was founded in 1994 as a way for horse-loving students to come together and ride/compete regardless of experience or ability level. Some of our team members have never ridden before, and some have been riding for most of their lives.
Through BUET, members have the opportunity to regularly ride and interact with horses, and even compete against other colleges if they choose to do so. We also encourage all of our team members to participate in fun team events and activities. This semester, BUET is proud to have 28 members on our roster. We had a successful season with our Western Team placing fourth and the Hunt Seat Team placing fifth overall.
One of our goals as a club is to make the sport affordable. Many students express interest but are financially unable to participate. Over the years, our executive board has worked to make these dreams a reality for students. Our club covers transportation costs to shows (up to five hour round trips) and reimburse members for their Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) membership fee ($45-65 per member). Additional, we also host IHSA competitions for the teams in our region (approx. $7,000 per show).
With the exceptional growth of our Western Team, we took on the challenge to host an annual show for the western region. Before 2023, BUET had never hosted a western show. With the cost of hosting shows, transportation, membership dues, and other necessities, our team is required to fundraise immensely to support our passion.
With your support, we are able to continue our love of the sport and make Bloomsburg a prominent team in our region.
