Since 2002, BSU has honored each American Indian graduate with a custom-designed graduation stole. They feature appliquéd floral designs inspired by the ancestral homelands of the Ojibwe on which the university resides. This tradition is our way of celebrating our graduates by providing a tangible symbol of pride in their perseverance, commitment, and success. These stoles represent more than graduation regalia; they embody belonging, identity, and achievement.
A local artist creates the traditional design, and a locally owned business produces each stole. As the number of American Indian graduates continues to reach record levels each year, we humbly ask for your generosity in helping us meet our $10,000 fundraising goal. Each stole cost approximately $175.
