Baylor College of Medicine has established itself as a leader in structural biology, chemical biology and drug discovery. We utilize innovative approaches to translate basic science research into therapeutic applications. Our research interests include chemical biology, natural product discovery, small-molecule drug discovery, macromolecular structure, molecular biophysics and proteomics. The department is home to the Therapeutic Innovation Center (THINC) faculty, and our faculty collaborate extensively with the Center for Drug Discovery. Our mission is to be an internationally recognized community of scientists advancing fundamental knowledge of cellular processes at the molecular level and developing small molecules to modulate those processes. We aim to translate our basic science discoveries into impactful therapeutics for combating cancer, neurodegeneration and infectious diseases.
