These experiences allow students to observe the policymaking process firsthand, contribute to meaningful projects, and explore careers dedicated to serving others. Internships and professional experiences in government often require students to relocate temporarily, creating financial challenges that can place these opportunities out of reach. The Government Relations Scholarship Fund helps remove those barriers by providing financial support that enables students to participate in state and federal government experiences. Through these opportunities, students work alongside Augusta University's Government Relations team, elected officials, legislative staff, executive branch professionals, and agency leaders.
Beyond professional experience, these opportunities help students develop the skills, relationships, and confidence necessary for future success. Students gain a deeper understanding of how government serves communities, build valuable professional networks, and strengthen leadership, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Fund Goal:
A scholarship is awarded annually to current students enrolled at Augusta University who are also pursuing an internship at the Georgia State Capitol or federal agencies. By helping offset costs associated with relocation, housing, travel, and professional participation, the fund ensures that financial circumstances do not prevent qualified students from accessing life-changing internship opportunities.
