The Campus Kitchen at Augsburg University works to build community through food and make healthy food accessible in and around the Cedar Riverside Neighborhood and on Augsburg’s campus. For more information about our program, check out our website!
Access to affordable, healthy food is always critically important for Augsburg students and our neighbors in Cedar-Riverside. With increased rates of food insecurity during the pandemic, your support matters now more than ever.
This year, we are seeking donations to support two key pieces of our programming:
1. Our campus food shelf.
The Campus Cupboard food shelf has continued providing free groceries for students during these challenging times, in the form of contact-free deliveries. We provide both nonperishable food (such as canned goods) as well as fresh produce, dairy, meat, etc. We purchase high quality food at 13 cents/ lb from our partner organization Loaves and Fishes. A 20 lb grocery bag for an Augsburg student costs $2.60. $104 provides us with grocery bags for 40 Augsburg students for one week!
2. Groceries for our neighbors.
We also partner with several Cedar Riverside organizations including Brian Coyle, People’s Center, West Bank Community Development Corporation, and more to provide healthy food to our neighbors. These community partnerships are a key value for Augsburg as an institution, keeping us connected and a part of our surrounding neighborhoods. On average we deliver ~800 lbs of healthy food weekly at no cost to our neighbors. An $80 donation will provide enough supplies to deliver food to our fellow community members for 2 weeks.
Thank you so much for your support! It makes a huge difference to our students and neighbors.
Thank you SO MUCH to all donors who've given thus far. Your help makes a huge difference for our students and neighbors during this challenging time!
With 9 days remaining, there is still plenty of time to share with your networks and give.
Thanks again for your support.
