About

Overview of the Library

The AUM Library is housed in a two-phase building complex which includes a ten-story tower. The library collections contain over 500,000 books, 149 current periodical subscriptions, and nearly 150 electronic resource databases. The Library also has extensive collections of documents and periodicals on microfilm, a growing collection of manuscripts and archival materials, and a collection of audiovisual materials. The Library is a federal documents depository with over one million publications dating from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. The Library supplements these resources by providing interlibrary loan services for faculty and students. AUM Library is a member of OCLC, an international on-line bibliographic database with more than 1 billion records. Library Reference Services

The Library reference service offers bibliographic instruction to assist students in beginning a research project. The library faculty and staff also provide individual assistance to students in locating information, searching within our databases, and using microform readers. Individual and Group Study Accomodations

The Library has just over 600 seats and includes 66 closed study carrels, a carrel with a machine to assist those with visual difficulties, and a classroom. It is staffed by a capable, friendly staff of professional librarians and paraprofessionals who are ready to help you.

The Library has group study rooms available on the 3rd and 5th floors.

The rooms are available to all students and available on a first come, first serve basis. For questions about the room or if you need assistance, please contact the Access Services desk on the first floor.

The Library staff looks forward to serving you. Please let us know how we can assist you.

Mission

The Auburn Montgomery Library provides access to information resources to support the curriculum and research needs of AUM’s students, faculty and staff. We facilitate lifelong learning within the AUM community by teaching the information literacy skills necessary to effectively locate, evaluate, and use information. The Library assists in providing for the informational needs of the greater Montgomery community and the Tri-County area.
