Academic Awards and Activity Recognition Reception
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers undergraduate degrees in five areas: actuarial science, computer science, cybersecurity, integrated mathematics, and mathematics. There are currently 4 full-time faculty members, with two additional full-time faculty members joining the department in Fall 2024. The professors are experts in their fields, dedicated to providing their students with transformative learning experiences, and have earned multiple awards for excellence in teaching.
The department has honored students at its annual Academic Awards and Activity Recognition Reception since 2004. Students receive a variety of recognitions at this reception, including:
- Academic Honors for having a 3.5 GPA in departmental courses
- Outstanding student awards for introductory courses
- Outstanding sophomore, junior and senior awards
- Departmental graduates
- Departmental scholarship recipients
- Officers of departmental clubs and honoraries
- Research presenters
- Contest participants
Awards include certificates, pens, paperweights, books, wooden eagles and honor cords.
