About

The Center for College and Community Engagement (3CE) is a hub connecting campus to the world beyond. Through connections to opportunities, programs, and resources, we enable students to put what they are learning into practice in the world and foster reciprocal and mutually beneficial relationships with our community that enhance both the educational experiences of Alma College students and the vibrancy of our city and region.

Watch this video or read on below to learn about all the transformational things the 3CE is doing at Alma.

Mission

We support students as they become leaders who think critically, serve generously, lead purposefully, and live responsibly through meaningful partnerships with communities. Through these partnerships our students develop personal, professional, and civic skills while connecting to our community and making a global impact by acting locally.

3CE programs help students put their learning into action in the world.

from the local:

  • Faculty development grants support faculty expanding community engaged learning courses, in which scholarship is developed and applied in partnership with community collaborators from industry, non-profit, and local government/civic organizations
  • A community-engaged First Year Seminar introduces every new student to their community – offered in collaboration with around 30 non-profit and civic organizations from mid-Michigan
  • Local service opportunities in collaboration with athletic teams, campus organizations, and our Alternative Breaks program
  • Alma Community Engagement (ACE) Scholarships supporting students from mid-Michigan who demonstrate dedication to service engagement and leadership before and during their time in college

to the national and global:

  • Off-Campus Study programs where students can earn Alma College credit with partner programs around the country and the world
  • Support for unique and applied Spring Term course experiences
  • Alma Venture program funding for applied experiences - available to every student
  • Alternative Break group service trips respond to the needs of communities around the country

Your support for the 3CE can:

  1. Support faculty course development grant ($1,000- $2,000)
  2. Cover the participant fee for a student to travel with an Alternative Break ($150-$300)
  3. Sponsor an Alma Venture ($2,500)
