Softball

Alma College's Softball program is an historic team. Head coach Denny Griffin has recorded 31 seasons with 20 or more wins, and 24 seasons where his team has picked up 10-plus wins in conference play. His single-season highs in terms of total wins came in 1999 and 2000, when the Scots won 46 and 42 games, respectively. During Griffin's tenure, Alma has seen 10 MIAA softball MVPs, four MIAA Most Valuable Pitchers and 204 All-MIAA selections. The coaching staff includes Head Coach Denny Griffin and Assisant Coaches Phil Hansen, Brandee West, Kayla Merice, and Marie Zill.

The Scots also shine on the national stage. Alma has collected 98 All-Region selections and 19 All-American selections, to go with 47 wins over 21 NCAA DIII Softball Tournament appearances. They have competed six times in the DIII National Championships in Salem, Virginia.

In February 2024, Denny clinched his 1,000th victory. With that win, he Griffin now lays claim to over 90 percent of Alma College Softball's all-time wins, and will look to collect more victories in the future. Additionally in 2024, Assistant Coach Phil Hansen reached his 900th milestone win.

The 2025 squad has a roster of 27 players and will play one of its toughest schedules including a trip the National Fastpich Coaches Association’s Leadoff Classic Tournament in Columbus GA.

Some additional highlights include:

• 19 MIAA Conference titles
• 11 MIAA Tournament Titles
• One NCAA Division III Softball Super Regional Championship
• Six Trips to the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament finals.
• Team GPA in 2024 was 3.56
