Model UN

Model UN 33.0 is returning to New York City in April representing Chile, Djibouti, and Ethiopia with the world’s most diverse MUN team—they have 21 international students from 11 countries, including Canada, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Kosovo, Morocco, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Vietnam.

Alma Model UN has received a record 55 “outstanding delegation” awards at National Model United Nations (NMUN), as well as 61 “outstanding delegation” awards at Michigan Model United Nations (MMUN)—their consecutive “outstanding delegation” streak at NMUN is at a record 27 years! They have also become the first program ever to win 3 “outstanding” awards in a single year, and have done it 5 times (including the last 2 years!).

Model UN has been especially valuable in helping students realize their dreams, including going to the finest law schools, medical schools, and graduate programs (including at Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Oxford, Cambridge, and Johns Hopkins), having life-altering internships at organizations such as the US State Department, and winning the most prestigious national and international scholarships (including the Fulbright, Gates-Cambridge, and Truman.) MUNers are changing the world, each in their own unique and meaningful way!

Model UN’s incredible success, including growing from the original team of 11 to the current 44 members, has created significant financial challenges. Perhaps most importantly, MUN’s commitment to provide every student committed to “finding their path to living a meaningful life” requires additional resources to cover dramatic increases in airfare, hotel rates, and conference fees; it costs nearly $9,000 just to register for NMUN, and $6,000 for roundtrip bus transportation between Alma and the Detroit airport for MMUN and NMUN.
