Library

As we enter our third year in the renovated Learning Commons, we've witnessed how modern library spaces support student scholarship. The library has settled in and is thinking about how to use the space more effectively and strategically. Students are still very interested in private study spaces, and we find ours in high demand. We would love to add some study pods at some point in the near future.

Our vision for enhancing the library includes two other critical additions that will directly impact student research and learning:

• A microform reader will bring historical documents to life for student researchers. Just recently, one of our students had to travel to another university to complete vital research on our college's own history - from Indigenous lands and the Treaty of Saginaw to our evolution into the liberal arts institution we cherish today. With your help, we can ensure future scholars have these resources right at their fingertips.

• Additionally, we're adapting to meet the need for information literacy instruction in our digital age. We no longer have a classroom accessible to us nearby. A mobile monitor will allow us to use our multi-functional spaces to teach students to navigate today's information landscape with critical thinking skills. Our beautiful Beacon area of the library would be a great space to use for instruction of large student groups.
