Each year, our Holy Cross community comes together to celebrate Give to Holy Cross Week, our annual fall fundraising drive for the Holy Cross Fund, during the week leading up to our unparalleled day of competitive fun, Holy Cross Day.

Welcome to the Purple vs. White Team Challenge!

Here's what the challenge looks like:

At the beginning of the school year, current students at The Academy were divided into Purple and White Teams by grade for a year-long competition to win the coveted "Tartan Cup" (and bragging rights). Certain student events and initiatives held throughout the year will give each student the opportunity to win points for their team. This year, Freshmen and Juniors are on the White Team, while Sophomores and Seniors are on the Purple Team.

The best part is that we are expanding the competition to include current parents, alumnae, alumnae parents, and grandparents too! Below is the team you have been sorted into:

Alumnae classes ending in an odd number: Purple Team

Alumnae classes ending in an even number: White Team

Parents of Current Students: Your daughter's current team. If you have multiple daughters currently attending Holy Cross, you have received an email from the Advancement Office about your team this year.

Parents of Alumnae: The team your eldest daughter is on based on her graduating class year (e.g. If you have 3 daughters who graduated in 2009, 2012, and 2015, you would be on the Purple Team because the oldest graduated in 2009). If you are a parent of an alumna(e) and a grandparent of an alumna(e), your team is still your eldest daughter's team based on her graduating class.

Parents of Alumna(e) that are also Current Parents: You have received an email from the Advancement Office about your team this year.

Alumnae that are also Current Parents: You have received an email from the Advancement Office about your team this year.

Grandparents of Current Students: Your granddaughter's current team. If you have multiple granddaughters currently attending Holy Cross, you have received an email from the Advancement Office about your team this year.

Grandparents of Alumnae: The team your eldest granddaughter is on based on her graduating class year (e.g. If you have 3 granddaughters who graduated in 2009, 2012, and 2015, you would be on the Purple Team because the oldest graduated in 2009). If you are an alumna, but also a grandparent of alumna(e), your team is your graduating class year.

Grandparents of Alumnae that are also Current Grandparents: You have received an email from the Advancement Office about your team this year.

*For alumnae, parents of alumnae (not including those that are also current parents), and grandparents of alumnae (not including those that are also current grandparents), this is the team you will be on for all future year-long Purple vs. White Team competitions.*

Beginning Friday, September 11, 2026, we are asking our alumnae, parents, grandparents, and friends to help students on the Purple and White Teams win points by donating to the Holy Cross Fund by Friday, September 18, 2026.

Here's how the scoring works:

*Every 5 donations from each team = 1 point

These points will go to the student-led Purple vs. White Challenge for the "Tartan Cup."

*All donations will go directly to The Holy Cross Fund, the school's unrestricted annual fund for current operations, not to the Purple and White Teams themselves
