Sophia Ruth Fisher Endowed Scholarship at ABAC
The Sophia Ruth Fisher Endowed Scholarship at ABAC has been created in memory of the daughter of Lynda and Richard Fisher by the ABAC Alumni Association. Lynda is the wonderful Alumni Director at ABAC and an ABAC alumnae. Richard is the beloved Principal at Len Lastinger Primary School. Along with their three sons - James, Daniel and Matthew - and their sweet daughter Sophia, the Fisher Family has had a tremendous positive impact on Tift County and the surrounding region. As a strong family of faith, they are an inspiration to all of us!
Born May 11, 2000, Sophia was the daughter of Richard and Lynda Sumner Fisher of Tifton. She was a senior at Tift County High School. Sophia brought joy and light to everyone who knew her. She lived her life according to her chosen motto: “Be Happy.” That motto was contagious, and she spread happiness everywhere she went.
Throughout her years in high school, Sophia was involved in many activities and groups. She was a dance captain in the TCHS Ladies’ Choice Show Choir, and she worked for countless hours to inspire her fellow choir members to be the best they could be. Her smile lit up the stage during every show. She had been chosen to be a member of Eighth Street Singing Company in the fall. She also competed with the TCHS Swim Team and the Cross Country Team and she was a member of the drama club. Sophia loved Jesus and was an active member of the Northside Baptist Church youth group and traveled to Jamaica on a mission trip last summer.
Although her years on this earth were short, they were filled with love. Sophia loved her friends and she kept a circle of people around her that came from many different backgrounds and walks of life. She was devoted to the children that she nannied. She adored her brothers and loved her parents fiercely.
Sophia will leave a legacy of kindness, and she will be remembered for her sweet and sassy spirit.
