Building Momentum. Finishing Strong.
At Umpqua Community College, construction is underway on the Welcome Center & Medical Careers Hub—a transformative project designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of Douglas County while creating a welcoming front door to campus.
With the building rising, we are focused on securing the final dollars needed to bring this vision fully to life. Your support at this stage is critical to completing state-of-the-art laboratory spaces that meet rigorous accreditation standards and provide hands-on, high-tech training for the next generation of healthcare professionals.
The facility will also feature a centralized Welcome Center—an accessible, inviting space that connects students and community members to the full range of opportunities at UCC.
This project is more than a building—it’s an investment in people, opportunity, and the future of our region. As we approach the finish line, your partnership will ensure we deliver a center of excellence that transforms lives and supports a healthier, more resilient Douglas County.

Spring weather has allowed construction activity at the UCC Welcome Center & Medical Careers Hub to accelerate significantly over the past month.
April marked an important transition for the project as crews focused heavily on roofing and exterior enclosure work. Large sections of the building now have completed roof sheathing, waterproofing systems, and roofing membrane installation in place. Exterior weather barriers, window preparation, and flashing systems are also moving ahead steadily as the structure takes shape.
Inside the facility, work continued on second-floor framing, canopy structures, and preparation for upcoming mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation. Coordination between trades has remained strong, and all roofing and storm system inspections completed this month passed successfully with no deficiencies or safety incidents reported.
Over the next several weeks, crews will continue exterior enclosure work while preparing the building for interior rough-in activities.

Alongside the visible construction progress, support for the campaign continues to bring us closer to the finish line.
Fundraising Goal: $21.5 million
Total Raised: $20,196,864
Funds Needed: $1,303,136
Every contribution is helping create a facility that will expand healthcare education opportunities, strengthen the regional workforce pipeline, and better serve students and our community for generations to come. We were also encouraged this spring by participation in UCC’s annual Employee Giving Campaign. Faculty and staff had the opportunity to support hundreds of different college programs and initiatives, and 10 employees chose to designate their gifts to the Welcome Center & Medical Careers Hub capital campaign. We are deeply grateful for your continued encouragement and investment in this transformational project.

Construction continues to make strong progress on the Umpqua Community College Welcome Center & Medical Careers Hub.
In March, crews completed major portions of second-floor framing and shear wall construction while advancing structural alignment across the building. Initial roof framing activities have also begun as the project transitions from vertical construction into enclosure phases.
Favorable weather conditions supported steady productivity, keeping the project on track toward the next milestone: building dry-in.

Upcoming Work
-Continued roof framing and interior wall framing
-Sealing and staining of Mass Plywood Panels (early April)
-Exterior envelope installation
-Arrival of a smaller crane for roof truss work
Additional subcontractors will mobilize throughout April as construction activity increases into early summer.
Fundraising Progress
Goal: $21,500,000
Raised: $20,195,973
