Owls on Break (Alternative Break Trips) are immersive service experiences for Kennesaw State University students to travel to new communities, explore community challenges, complete meaningful service projects, and build lifelong connections. Trips take place over KSU's Fall and Spring breaks. Alternative breaks provide an opportunity for students to connect, learn, serve, and grow. Participants gain a deep sense of belonging at KSU, direction for their academic interests, and clarity on pathways for lifelong civic engagement. Your support will directly offset trip expenses including group meals, lodging, transportation, reflection journals, and hands-on service project supplies.
Many impactful stories emerge from alternative break trips.
For example, Eladia changed her major to Human Services upon returning from a trip focused on addiction and recovery. Similarly, Casey was so inspired that she began working as a Student Director in the Department of Student Volunteerism and Service, helping plan recurring service opportunities for other KSU students. Macy, a biology major, and Xander, an environmental science major, shared that the most impactful parts of their conservation-focused trip to Sapelo Island, Georgia, were the hands-on educational components of interacting with local plants and animals. Another student shared that her Sapelo Island experience pushed her to let go of biases while gaining a new perspective on the local community. Your support would create more of these life-changing moments.
