M. Club Ultimate- Your gift will allow us to provide unique, meaningful travel experiences.  In the past we have been able to utilize churches to stay for tournaments.  Unfortunately, this year due to the pandemic that will not be the case.  Your gift will help cover the cost for hotel rooms so we will be able to travel and participate in ultimate tournaments. 

W. W. Club Lacrosse- Your gift will provide an opportunity for student-athletes to play lacrosse at PLU.  Your gift will allow the team to purchase additional lacrosse sticks for potential new members to use.

M. Club Lacrosse- Your gift will provide an opportunity for student-athletes to play lacrosse at PLU that could otherwise not afford the expensive protective equipment to play. Each year new players start playing lacrosse for the first time and will spend on average $500+ for equipment alone. By providing protective equipment, it allows the sport of lacrosse to be accessible to ALL students. 

Club Wrestling – This year the club was not able to gain funding from the university.  Any funds gifted will help with all team operations. 

Outdoor Rec- All gifts will help costs for more tents to use during our overnight hikes.  We want to purchase more single person tents so Lutes feel safe and comfortable when they come explore with us.

Intramural Sports – Your gift will help cover the cost of new intramural indoor soccer goals and innertube water polo goals.

Jim (’78) Fredricksen shares why he and his wife Jane Fredricksen are offering a dollar-for-dollar match for gifts to the Internship Fund this Bjug Day:

“My motivation for helping students at PLU probably started when attending PLU. Professors and administrators helped write references and made connections leading to part-time jobs in areas that I was actually interested in pursuing. They cared about and showed an interest in me. I’ve always thought I was lucky to have had their support. 

"After graduation Jane and I, plus our close circle of friends, had a chance to get to know Mr. Bill Crooks, a professor in the School of Business, and his dear wife Bobbe. They took an interest in us, as Lute grads, golfers, friends and were always interested in our careers.  We also saw how they interacted with students, developed a network with the local business community, and spent hours supporting the youth of the greater Tacoma area. What super role models and friends they were!

"After spending time with the PLU’s Business Advisory Board, plus engaging with students as a mentor, it seemed pretty clear that securing meaningful internships prior to graduation continued to be a priority. Unfortunately, not all internships are paid affairs. We came up with a plan to create a fund that could assist a wide range of students as they were beginning internships in areas that they really wanted to explore. This seemed like an immediate need that needed attention. 

"Last spring we were able to help over 20 students who needed a variety of assistance (tech support, transportation assistance, living expenses, etc.). The fun part was enabling the students to select the internship that they wanted, and hope that their experience was altogether more positive. Hopefully the short- and long-term feedback from these students will parallel the positive experience I’ve had in being part of the PLU community through the years.  Go Lutes."  

Our student-athletes have very full plates, and no, I am not referring to the hearty meals consumed at the campus commons. The average daily routine for a PLU sport team member includes early morning weights, breakfast on the go, class, class, lunch on the go, and more class. Then it’s lab and or study group meetings, training room visits, practice, film study, dinner and homework. By the time night falls, PLU student-athletes are pressed to get a full 8 hours of sleep. Now, don’t get me wrong...this is THE LIFE. Your donations allow our student-athletes to focus on their individual “full plates” without the stress associated with funding their experience. Please consider giving to the sport program of your choice.

The support of our 450+ Lute student-athletes takes investment from various sources.  Your commitment to PLU Athletics, this year, will allow us to provide robust student-athlete programming that will help in the progression of athletic and academic success.  Furthermore, this year we intend to increase our investment in our athletic facilities.  This very important work will allow us to host competitions in a safe environment and provide the physical space to allow our student-athletes to perform at the highest level.

“I went to PLU to become a Nurse. The Nursing Program was hard but wonderful! When at college, I worked 12 hours/week in the Computer Center as part of my financial aid package.
