About
Since 1950 — when Earl Reynolds became West Texas A&M University’s first National Champion — the WT Rodeo Team has been a proud part of WT history. Today, the team represents WTAMU in the Caprock Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, competing in steer roping and all nine NIRA events: saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, breakaway roping, goat tying, and barrel racing. Beyond their success in the arena, team members excel in the classroom, balancing rigorous academics with practice and travel. For more than 75 years, WT Rodeo has built a tradition of excellence, fostering a community where athletes grow as competitors and as future leaders.
