Inaugural Class - $17

The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design began in 1946 as architecture courses within the College of Engineering, with John G. Williams teaching 17 students, including future faculty members.  Fay Jones and Ernie Jacks.

First AIA Gold Medal   - $1,990

Fay Jones was awarded the AIA Gold Medal in 1990 for his design of Thorncrown Chapel. The AIA Gold Medal is the highest honor in American Architecture.

 

Second AIA Gold Medal - $2,020

Marlon Blackwell was awarded the AIA Gold Medal in 2020 for his body of work including St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church and the Harvey Pediatric Clinic. The AIA Gold Medal is the highest honor in American architecture.
