How are these funds distributed?
The Student Emergency Support Fund is managed by The Student Support Team. Students submit a formal application detailing their crisis and providing documentation. Each request is reviewed by a committee to ensure funds are allocated to those with the most urgent needs.
The fund is available to currently matriculated Stony Brook undergraduate and graduate students who are experiencing an unexpected financial crisis that threatens their ability to remain enrolled.
Absolutely. Every dollar donated to this specific fund is restricted for use by the Student Emergency Support Fund to provide direct aid for food, housing, medical, and academic emergencies.
Any funds raised beyond our initial goal will remain in the Student Emergency Support Fund to help even more Seawolves throughout the academic year. The need is ongoing, and every extra dollar builds a stronger safety net.
