At UNCW’s College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts (CHSSA), learning goes beyond the classroom. Whether students are showcasing creative talents, gaining hands-on experience or working with professionals, they’re preparing for bright futures through transformative opportunities.  

These opportunities would not be possible without the support of our College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts Excellence Fund donors. The support from these individuals allows our students to grow, gain confidence and succeed in their area of study. 

Every gift provides our students with unique opportunities to broaden their horizons. These are just a few recent examples of the life-changing experiences your gift supports: 

• Film Studies students worked on a forthcoming documentary about the professional women’s soccer team, North Carolina Courage, earning an early-career accolade.   

• Student musicians in Birth of the Mirth Brigade, a pop rock ensemble, performed original songs at the Association of Popular Music Education Conference and refined their sound with the University of Southern California professors after releasing their first single.  

• Communication Studies students partnered with nonprofits and small businesses through Pier601 Creative, providing marketing services and gaining real-world experiences.
